Physiotherapy

Keep active and moving

Physiotherapists help people affected by injury, illness or disability to live healthy, active lives. Keeping active is a vital part of maintaining good health. But pain, stiffness or injury can stop you exercising and make daily activities difficult.

Physiotherapists can assess, diagnose and treat a range of movement problems and health conditions.

After a thorough assessment, treatment may include:

  • Tailored exercises
  • Manual therapy
  • Hydrotherapy
  • Stretching
  • Education and advice
  • How can physiotherapists help?

Physiotherapists can assess and treat a wide range of conditions including:

  • Musculoskeletal problems of the back, neck, hip, knee & shoulder
  • Neurological conditions such as stroke, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis and others
  • Cardio-thoracic and respiratory disorders
  • Mobility and balance problems
  • Fall risks and assessment for walking aids
  • Post-surgery management, including hip and knee replacements

All the above conditions can be treated individually or in a group class setting.

Your physiotherapist might also work in close association with your GP, occupational therapist, dietitian or other practitioner to provide a comprehensive rehabilitation plan for you.
