Groups and Activities

Connect Health & Community runs a number of programs and groups. The priorities are to promote mental health and wellbeing, to promote physical activity, and to promote accessible and nutritious diet.


OJFC Youth Mentor Program

This free youth mentoring program will leverage off kids’ passion for football to support their wellbeing. Click here to learn more.

When:  The 4-session training program starts at the end of April 2018 (dates TBC). Mentoring/coaching will go for the whole 2018 season.
Where: Ormond Junior Football Club ‒ various venues depending on age of player/coach.

Creative Ways to Care Program

A free education and training program offering support and strategies to those caring for people living with dementia. Click here to learn more.
When:  This free 7-session program starts on Tuesday 1 May 2018 (6pm-9pm).
Where: Connect Health & Community, 2a Gardeners Road, Bentleigh East.


Emotional Wellbeing Group 

This 12-week program is designed to help those who feel overwhelmed by their emotions and/or those who are experiencing emotional distress identify, understand and manage their emotions in more healthy and adaptive ways. Click here to learn more.

Outdoor Walking Groups (Various)

Local walking groups with a paid or volunteer leader. Walk and talk, make new friends while improving your fitness level. The pace is set by the participants.


Tai Chi (Beaumaris & Hampton)

Tai Chi classes for adults exercise for well-being, balance, and mobility ($8 per class).

When 10am Mondays.
Where: Beaumaris  (Reserve Rd behind the library) OR

Where:
Hampton (Beside the railway line close to Hampton Rd).


Making Meal Times Happy

Do you wish to have happier meal times with your toddler? Our dietitian will help you increase your knowledge and confidence in feeding your toddler at mealtimes.

In this informative session, you will hear ideas to help make mealtimes more pleasurable, while retaining all the nutrients your toddler needs.

When 10am-11am third Thursday of each month.
Where: Connect Health & Community 2A Gardeners Rd, Bentleigh East.
Cost: $5 per session.

Southland Striders and Strollers (Cheltenham)

This is a great supervised walking program run at Southland Shopping Centre twice a week. Participants can join the Strollers group or the Striders group allowing for differing paces.

Starting with some gentle warm-ups you will spend around one hour walking through parts of the shopping centre under the guidance of a trained leader and assisted by volunteer staff. Best of all the program is run indoors, so you stay warm and secure, and the program runs throughout the whole year.

It is a collaborative partnership between Westfield Shopping Centre, Waves Leisure Centre, Southern Health, Connect Health & Community and Central Bayside Community Health Service and has been running for more than 9 years.

When: Tuesday and Thursday mornings 7.45am sharp. 
Where: Southland Shopping Centre.
Cost: Free.

Parkinsons Support Group

For people with Parkinsons, their families and carers.

When: 1.30 pm on the fourth Monday of the month
Where: Connect Health & Community, Bentleigh East


Bentmoor Men's Shed

Men's Sheds are based around a common interest of arts, crafts, and technical skills but bring these together at a community level. Be a part of this active social group

When: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 10.30am - 2.30 pm.
