Top tips to tackle exhaustion

Exhaustion fatigue sleep energy

Can’t shake the cold? Not sleeping well? No energy? So tired…?

With the nights drawing in and winter waiting in the wings, are you feeling low on energy? Put down that 4th espresso and try these energy and immunity boosting tips instead.

1. With sleep, consistency is key
According to a growing body of research, you're more productive when you wake up at the same time every single day. So set an alarm and be consistent - even at the weekend. And if you can, aim for a slightly earlier wake up time. This gives you that precious time to exercise before the rest of the house gets up, which leads to the next tip…

2. Exercise to energise
When you’re exhausted, the mere thought of exercise can be enough to make you want to lie down. But exercise energises you, can improve your mood and quality of sleep, and can even lower your blood pressure. Aim for 20 to 30 minutes a day and you’ll not only improve your physical health, but your emotional wellbeing too.

3. Start the day with happy tummy

From being kids, we're told that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But sugary cereals and triple espressos do not a good wake-up meal make. For balanced brekkie suggestions that'll energise your brain and body, and more tips on eating your way to increased energy, click here.

4. Say no more often
Don’t try and be superhuman – being tired can quickly turn into something more serious. Be your own best friend and say no whenever you can. Purge low-value tasks from your to-do list and, if you can, stop spending time with toxic energy-suckers (you know who they are).
