Supporting healthy outcomes at local kindergartens

Our Health Promotion team is supporting early learning centers in Bayside and Glen Eira City Councils through the Achievement Program, an initiative by the Victorian Government and the Cancer Council that helps services create a healthier environment for their students, staff and families.

We recently celebrated Wilson Street Kindergarten completing the Achievement Program after delivering a series of in person workshops with their educators that focused on healthy eating, active living and the best tools and resources that could be used to achieve these goals.

Centre Director of Wilson Street Kindergarten, Susan Mulholland, spoke highly of the support provided by our Health Promotion team members.

“[The Connect Health & Community team]  has provided immense support during the process of completing the Achievement Program. The expertise and resources provided were very helpful. The presentation given by the  Paediatric Dietician on Healthy-Eating to staff, was also very informative and useful.”

The Achievement Program provides a framework that is designed to help Early Learning Services  bring together and enhance current health and wellbeing initiatives. It’s aligned with key policies and guidelines including the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework, the National Quality Standard and Quality Improvement Plans.
