Community Fundraising - Head Shave for a Cause

During March, families across our communities rallied in support of their loved ones living with cancer and took part in the World’s Greatest Shave to help raise awareness and money to fight blood cancer.

Connect Health & Community volunteer, Leesa, is one of those whose family is currently touched by cancer, and on the weekend she rallied with her nephews Michael and Andrew to shave their heads in support of her sister-in-law and to help raise money for cancer research and treatment.

Leesa said the touching family act of solidarity was a happy surprise for sister-in-law, Deb.

“Today it was a very emotional day to see my sister in-law.  She got a big surprise when I showed up with my hair shaved off.  I so was glad I did it for her,” she said.

In addition to her two nephews raising money for the Cancer Council, Leesa has also thrown her hat (that she will need as the weather chills soon) into the ring and made a donation.

Australia’s amazing cancer research and support organisations welcome support throughout the year, not just during key fundraising initiatives.
