With a beautiful summer upon us, Connect Health & Community has had fun in the sun with the residents of the Bluff Rd Housing Estate, encouraging them to embrace the beauty of their grounds with three days of garden-based school holiday activities for all residents.
The celebrations continued building on residents’ connection to their common social space which features expansive grassed areas and significant eucalyptus trees which provided a beautiful, shady spot for the fun.
With the assistance of Castlefield Community Centre, Lions Sandringham, Family Life and Bayside City Council, more than 35 residents helped make and paint tyre gardens, create a transportable plastic sunflower garden and celebrate their efforts at a garden party.
Over the coming months we will investigate the opportunity to build a community garden so residents can work together to grow and share their own vegetables on the estate.
What are the health benefits of saying no to that extra glass of wine or beer? How about giving it up for a whole month?
