Treatment and advice for healthier feet

Podiatrists play an important role in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions of the foot and ankle.

Podiatry services include:

  • Treatment of skin and toenail conditions
  • Diabetes foot assessment and education
  • Adult and child foot and walking assessments
  • Orthotic prescription
  • Ingrown toenail surgery
  • Footwear assessment and advice

Podiatry treatment and assessment can help:

  • Relieve foot and ankle pain
  • Improve mobility
  • Treat painful corns and callouses
  • Manage foot ulcers
  • Treat fungal skin and nail infections
  • Analyse walking patterns and provide shoe advice
  • Prevent diabetes foot complications
  • Your podiatrist might also work in close association with a physiotherapist, occupational therapist, nurse or other practitioner to deliver a comprehensive treatment plan.

Are there priority conditions?

Priority is given to clients with:

  • Diabetes
  • Vascular disease in the legs
  • Foot pain
  • Foot ulcers
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Children with foot and walking problems 

Is there a waiting list?

There may be waiting times for the first appointment. Our waiting list is prioritised based on the referral information we receive. If you are on the waiting list you will be contacted with an appointment time as soon as one becomes available.

Who is eligible?

Everyone in the community is welcome to access our podiatry service.

Do I need a referral?

Yes. Podiatry referrals from a health care practitioner are required.
If you are over 65 you can seek a referral through My Aged Care on 1800 200 422.
If you are under 65, contact your GP or Connect Health & Community for more information.

What about My Aged Care?

You may be referred to our podiatry service as part of a My Aged Care assessment. This referral will be discussed with you and will be made with your permission.
