Keeping connected through meal time

24 July, 2020

Community partners are working together to deliver healthy vegetarian meals to residents at the Bluff Rd Housing Estate.

With Stage 3 COVID-19 restrictions impacting our ability to provide onsite support at the Bluff Rd Housing Estate, Connect Health & Community is keeping connected with residents through a new weekly meal program.

For the next five weeks, Connect Health is working with partners Highett Neighbourhood House, Bayside Christian College and Victorian Golf Club to make and deliver free vegetarian meals to the community housing residents.

Connect Health & Community CEO, Amanda Murphy, said the initiative was a great way for Connect Health to work with partners and stay in touch with residents when it wasn’t possible to provide normal onsite community projects.

“The COVID-19 crisis has impacted us all in many ways, but we have worked to ensure we can maintain critical support to our community within the essential Stage 3 restrictions.  By working with our partners to help provide weekly meals at Bluff Road Estate, we can keep residents connected with the rest of the community while sharing some healthy cooking,” she said.

Ms Murphy said residents order the meals by early Monday morning to ensure their contactless delivery by midday on Wednesday.  Meals arrive frozen and are then heated as required.

Bluff Road Estate residents wishing to book a meal can phone or text their order to 0491 631 804.
